Hello peeps.
as i have mentioned in my previous post,
i am now updating on the trip that i went on last Monday.
MYSA stands for Malaysian Young Scientist Assembly.
Does that make me an official scientist?
Not yet.. hehehe..
Insya-Allah, in future..
There are lots more to improve.
I've left Science for more than 3 years and I can hardly recall.
so what is this MYSA all about?
Malaysian Young Scientist Assembly is an event which was emulated by the Meeting of Nobel Laureates in Lindau, Germany.
Every year, the fortunate young scientists are chosen to attend this meeting, to witness and question anything that came across their minds. a very grand event that gives opportunity to the young scientists to untangle any mysteries on their minds.
MYSA is organized in Malaysia to encourage us, youths to get involved into science as our country is lack of young and fresh scientists. you can never get such opportunity outside than MYSA.
....
so,
last weekend i flew to Kuantan first to get my stuffs and check on my car.
then headed back to so-called dearest ump after spending one night at cousie's house.
seriously, i felt awkward after leaving Kuantan for more than 1 month.
Why?
I was having difficulties with the food and slang.
so i didn't really eat throughout my stay there.
owh.. my dear Mosha.. I missed you!
I'll be driving you again in September ok?
Wait for me and take good care of yourself.. ;)
on monday, we took a ride on ump's bus heading to USIM, in Nilai.
it took us longer than the usual time to reach there.
*mabuk*..i seriously can't travel by road, by air too.. i don't know what's wrong. but the reason why i had my fever recently was because of that mabuk thing.
Day One.
me and nana..
I was really astonished with the buildings in USIM.
USIM is wayy bigger than UMP.
but it's ok..
I still love UMP.
Kinda thankful that we don't really need transport to move around in the campus, except for the guys and residents in KK4..
yeap!
I am one of the official participant of MYSA 2011. ;)
okay.
for the first evening, we were divided into ten groups.
so that made scientists from variety fields and universities were put together.
I'm glad that azrul (UMP) was in the same group with me too.
we came out with our group name - SAPPHIRE.
nothing much happened on the first evening.
the main agenda was to get everyone along and ice-breaking.
My group members mostly came from Science courses. Pharmacy, food biotechnology and so on.
being in engineering field made me think a lot.
"how can i contribute to science development as easy as them?'
"just by managing the sources, wisely.. "
says Tan Sri Dr Salleh Mohd Nor, one of the fellow of Academic & Science.
alright.
day two.
we left Acacia Hostel at 7am, heading to USIM to get our breakfasts and other activities.
owh yeah.
I would like to introduce..
Nana and Rabeah.. Rabeah is our 2nd Year Junior of FIST.
a very bubbly girl and i am so comfortable to be around her.
and these dudes are the male participants of UMP.
most of them came from FSKKP.
except for Ong.. he's a member of FIST.
the UMPians ..
the first activity that initiated the second day was a speech by Prof Dato' Dr Sheikh Omar Abdul Rahman.
I seriously LOVE the talk and energy given by Prof.
It was as if his energy had moved into our souls.
I can really feel everything single thing that he talked about.
but too bad. two hours was really a short period.
then, Science Bazaar took place.
FYI, Science Bazaar is not like selling food or stuffs for sciences.
in fact, it was a Q&A sessions with 6 different most known professors.
i just can say it is the time where we can meet professors from all experts.
We decided to stay in the class of Professor Emeritus Dato' Dr Muhammad Yahaya.
actually we can mingle around with other 5 professors.
but i don't think it was proper to leave the class when the prof was still answering other people's questions.
but i was bored because same person kept asking over and over again.
zzzzzz..
but it was ok..
we waited patiently till the afternoon activity came.
us with prof.
the next activity was cruising in Putrajaya..
this was taken while waiting for the bus.
credit to azrul. I love this pic so much!
hehe..
we were pampered with the opportunity to go cruising..
then the professors were brought to us halfway.
we were eyeing on any possibility to question the profs.
but too bad,
there were stuck at the other side with questions flooded them.
me and nana can just wait.
we were just curious to know what is our job prospect in their opinions, and how does our field contribute to the development of science.
but.. it was only a short explanation. i think it was due to insufficient time since we need to get back and change.
after rushing for a short bath.
we made our way to Equatorial Hotel, Nilai for MYSA Gala Dinner.
hehe.. that's us. the ladies from UMP.
the theme was black and red.
they gave us the choice to wear jubah, baju kurung moden, kebaya and bla bla bla.
so in terms of convenience, jubah is the easiest.
so tadaaa ;)
I love this picture too.
us with the dudes.
they are funny.
i'm glad that we did get along within a day.
we talked and shared about lots of stuffs.
yeap.. us again.
me and dear nana..
yeahh..
I really LOVE this.
looks so elegant and professional.
we are scientists, aren't we? heheheh
day three.
again.. that's us in red.
we were like attached to each others.
maybe more comfortable like that.
hehe.
but then we were asked to sit in our own groups.
so.. the morning started with a talk by Malaysia's youngest professor - Professor Dr Mohd Basyaruddin Abdul Rahman.
i was really motivated by his talk, though it was a bit sleepy. hehehe.
nevertheless, he gave us a lot of useful tips on how to improve ourselves.
next,
SCIENTISTS AMAZING RACE!
haha.
I look forward to that day because it's more leisure compared to the earlier activities.
we were needed to complete the tasks and all involves science.
urghh..
don't ask me.
I can hardly help them in the lab because I was just too slow to think and recall.
but when come to Sudoku,
you can hand me that.
I can do it.. hehehe.
hmm..
so this was taken in the mean time, rushing to the next check point.
the race started at 11am and ended at 3pm.
we missed few checkpoints.
but it's ok.. still, we were the first to reach the pit stop.
the surprising part?
tadaaa..
SAPPHIRE WON THE ROUND!
YAY!
really proud that we won though we were like dizzy completing the race.
hehe.
then..
USIM showed us a nice montage for the closing.
it was a summary on our 3 days activities there.
lastly..
our group photo.
too bad am and ong didn't join us.
or else this picture is surely a superb!
so..
you ask me what was the outcome that I gained.
seriously,
I think i am much more motivated now.
I just can't wait for the new semester to come.
I am really thankful as I was chosen to attend this event.
such an opportunity is ought to be grabbed.
I learnt a lot,
and I made friends from many universities, from various fields.
the connection made me realized one thing.
networking is important to move us.
hmm..
when come to think of this,
i really love this program.
a definite motivation for me to write and produce a great paper.
TO BE ONE OF THE NOBEL PRIZE WINNER!
aminn ;)))
